VirginiaNPHSupportGroup.org is an online resource dedicated to providing educational opportunities and support to individuals and their families that have been affected by Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH).

The purpose of an NPH Support Group initially would be to provide support to patients diagnosed with NPH. Information would be made available prior to surgery and following the insertion of a shunt. This would include printed, visual information as well as personal contact with the patient and family.

Goals

1. To educate physicians as well as the general public how to deal effectively with a difficult disease.
2. Formally educate physicians regarding diagnosis and treatment
3. To make available an NPH medi-alert ID bracelet
4. To make available a brochure for educational purposes
5. To make available a video tape to be distributed to assisted living facilities, nursing homes, doctor's offices regarding signs and symptoms of NPH.
6. To publicize (TV, radio and print copy) NPH as a treatable condition.
7. To offer pre and post-op classes for shunt placement
8. To identify sources of funding to accomplish our goals.
